IB ACH Deposit initiated by Bank

Can't you add IB as a "payee" in your regular bank account? I'm with TD and BMO and the payee list is very extensive - but I haven't checked to see if IB is included.


EDIT: I just checked and both Bank of Montreal and TD bank have INTERACTIVE BROKERS CANADA INC on the payee list. I assume most US banks also will have IB on the payee list.

Based upon the info you've provided it appears as if you are attempting to create a standing instruction to push funds on demand from your bank to your IB account. This is not going to work as IB is not a bank. Assuming your bank supports it, you can ask them to send a one-time ACH transfer. Different banks have different procedures for requesting this (i.e., online or in person) but in either case you will need to provide them with the transfer routing details.

To obtain this information, create a deposit notification via Account Management (select Funding and then Funds Transfer menu options, Transaction Type as Deposit and Method of ACH Initiated at Bank). This serves two purposes: 1. Provides the routing instructions specific to your currency and the IB entity through which your account is carried; and 2. Allows IB to automatically match the funds to your account upon arrival.

Unfortunately, my cash is parked in online savings accounts that pay 1% interest. They don't have a bill pay, only ACH. They support wire but I don't want to pay $30 outgoing wire fee. I can do ACH pull from IB but that has 4 day waiting period at IB before funds are available.

Thanks IB-AN. I will check with my bank on that. What is the waiting period for trading on the funds sent by this ACH push? Is it still 4 days?
