I was wrong on climate change. Why can’t other conservatives admit it, too?

Yep, the climate changes. No shit. It's been changing for eons, long before any human being stood upright. Explain all of the many changes, some of them catastrophic, that happened before and smokestacks spewed shit into the atmosphere. Once again, leftists pretend that everything was perfect before a certain date they decide to pick to push whatever narrative they're pushing.

i guess you think that every expert climate scientist on earth is a leftist. I didn't know science was only for leftists.

Back when I was young, they predicted that coastal cities like NYC & Miami would be under water by the year 2000. Then they changed the terminology from global warming to climate change because the average temperature didn't change much for about a decade. Then Al Gore and others predicted the polar ice caps would melt and disappear within 5 years. 5 years later there was more ice than when they made the prediction.

The world has been around for a long time. There has been evidence of climate change throughout the history of the world despite the fact that the human footprint was virtually non-existent prior to the last few centuries. We only have sophisticated climate data for the past 150-200 years. That data set is only a tiny snapshot in the history of the world. It's no wonder that most of the predictions regarding climate change have been wrong.

I don't deny climate change. I don't deny that the human footprint affects climate change. It would be naive to believe that we don't affect the climate. But I don't think anyone really knows how much we affect the climate, or what's going to happen in the future.

Everything you wrote in the first paragraph and the last sentence in the second paragraph is wrong.

As for the last sentence, it's very clear how much we have affected the climate. You can see it in the chart below. And yes the data presented in it is correct.

I think anyone who cherry picks a 100 or so years of data while ignoring several hundred million is an idiot. Most are leftists, and the others just trying to keep the grant money flowing. I'll keep asking until someone answers the question. Why and what caused all the other climate shifts? Who was to blame for that? Figure that out before you leap to conclusions on the current, minor by comparison climate change we're experiencing, and what, if anything meaningful we've contributed to it. That's what an actual scientist would do.

So, to be clear, you think that literally every expert, science org, The Weather Channel Exxon Mobil etc.....are all wrong or lying. Nevermind that CO2 is a greenhouse gas that has gone up 40% over two hundred years due to us so the science is just common sense which most people have.

I think they're stating the obvious. Yes, the climate is changing. No shit, it changes from time to time and has for eons. So what. There is zero proof, none at all, that this climate shift is a direct result of industrialization. Direct being the operative word. Might it be a minor contributing factor? Maybe, it's possible. You, and they still can't explain all the other climate shifts and why this one is significantly different in origin from all the others. Significantly being the operative word.

I know that everything in my first paragraph was incorrect. It was a list of all of the ridiculous things I've heard throughout my life in regards to climate change that never materialized.

I find it interesting that you have "correct" temperature data going back a thousand years considering the fact that we've only been able to accurately track temperatures since the 1800's. I know there are ways to estimate temperatures before that, but that data isn't anywhere near as accurate as what we have now. Besides that, some people estimate that the earth is over four billion years old. Even with a thousand years of accurate data, it's still only a tiny snapshot of time in the history of the world.

To me climate change is kind of like the stock market. You can find someone predicting whatever you want to believe. There are climatologists right now predicting that we're about to enter an ice-age. There are climatologist claiming temperatures will rise and cause cataclysmic events if something doesn't change. I'm not sure that either of them really have a clue what they're talking about.

No you don't understand. All those things in the first paragraph that you think they said. They didn't. The ridiculous thing is that you thought said them, but they didn't. Your fault, not theirs.

So, to be clear, you think that literally every expert, science org, The Weather Channel Exxon Mobil etc.....are all wrong or lying. They are all saying that it is certainly due to man. That's because there is tons of proof. That's why they all say that man is doing it. Do I need to post, again, the statements from the science orgs and the polls of the climate scientists etc?

OK, here's a sample

American Geophysical Union
"Human‐induced climate change requires urgent action. Humanity is the major influence on the global climate change observed over the past 50 years. Rapid societal responses can significantly lessen negative outcomes."

American Meteorological Society
"It is clear from extensive scientific evidence that the dominant cause of the rapid change in climate of the past half century is human-induced increases in the amount of atmospheric greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide (CO2), chlorofluorocarbons, methane, and nitrous oxide." (2012)7

and there are hundreds more.

You think that all the experts and scientists and The Weather Channel and Exxon are wrong?

Note the part where they say it's due to man.

It doesn't matter what caused the climate shifts in the past. In the past there wasn't man pumping 9 billion tons per year of greenhouse gasses into the air. Do you understand that?

BTW, they do understand what caused the climate changes in the past. It wasn't man.
