Lucrum, if you don't want to exchange views with those who may oppose yours, then you really shouldn't come here. And is it challenging to type your posts while being wrapped in a flag? I can only imagine your resolve.

"Your kind." "Appeal to emotion." Is this a Rand refresher? Where you mimic her diatribes and pretend they're your own? As the rugged individualist that you are, of course. Quick, read the next line to find out what you think.Quote from Trend Following:
Your kind has been seen for a long time. I have nothing against you personally, but your ideas, which are squishy at best, are designed to do nothing except appeal to emotion. "Life support" = appeal to emotion. Now that a few words from you negate Rand, I am sure you got a few more words to negate Mises too?
Note: Pardon me if I don't know various people's beliefs already...I am learning fast.
No, I didn't. Your post merely contained two posts: Mine and Covel's, implying that Covel was answering my question. However, my question was posed to Mvic. So when I pressed "quote" on your post, it showed nothing. Rather indicative, wouldn't you say?Quote from Lucrum:
You left out my quote Dawg!
Meaning I don't know the CONTEXT of your post and therefore can't respond appropriately.
That's almost as bad as a grammatical error.
Take a deep breath and slow down.
Quote from Thunderdog:
I think you should step back into Rand's novels where you belong. They're waiting for you to demonize someone.
Quote from Thunderdog:
No. I answered your question. If you don't wish to exchange views, then don't come here or at least don't post. Suggesting I should not post because I'm not American is vaguely preposterous. (I use the term "vaguely" to be polite.)
Thanks for the response. You raise some good points. But I would not be too quick to absolve Bush of 9/11. Remember that Richard Clarke said the outgoing Clinton administration was trying to impress upon the incoming Bush administration the gravity of the terrorist threat, whereby there was gathering intelligence that OBL was looking to harm Americans on US soil, possibly using aircraft. The way that the Bush administration waved off the dire warnings left Clarke outraged. They were essentially asleep at the switch and only started barking when OBL woke them up.Quote from Mvic:
No question Bush did an awful job but lets not forget that he had the dot com bust to contend with, then 9/11, and even Katrina. The way he chose to respond to these events left a lot to be desired, but I think to just say that it was all his fault is not being fair to the man who in all likleyhood was doing what he felt was best for the country, as misguided as he was (by the likes of Cheney et al).
I'm not advocating more of the same by any means, I just find it remarkable that today I can envisage a situation in the foreseeable future (not the past election of Obama) where people in the US would have a choice between a candidate that was pushing something akin to a chinese style 5 year plan and a more traditional free market laissez faire candidate.
Having said that, I do feel that tax cuts are part of the solution. Specifically the temporary elimination of the payroll tax for both employees and employers. Major tort reform too would be a cheap and highly stimulatory measure, as would single payer universal health care.
