Maybe 80% of people running as republicans are white males but I suspect that number is higher, but certainly not 80% of people running as democrats.
The real numbers are about 60% of the total number of people running for state and federal office are white males.

As to corporate welfare vs welfare directly to the people, money spends the same way just one benefits the investor class and the other goes directly to the people.
