"Chose to ignore"... I would put it as more of a "willing to put up with" in lieu of the alternative.

"Weren't aware"...possibly. I don't follow politics as much as some you guys do. And even if I was aware, of whatever you're referring to, admittedly I may have already forgotten. Seeing as how it's history now anyway. And not the kind of history I generally enjoy either.

Actually it's the liberals I despise, any shit I throw in the direction of the dems is mostly because that's where the liberals tend to congregate.

If I'd been a blue collar worker 50 - 60 years ago, who knows, I might have even voted democrat. Too many hard core militant liberals in today's dem party to ever garner my vote now.

I've said this before and will say it again, I'm not as far right as our ET left would like to tell themselves. It only seems that way because our ET lefties are SO FAR left.
I offered to compare political compass scores with Gabfly recently, and he ran with his tail between his legs.
Another potential factor in your perception of my "blind support" for all things repub is our two party system and the extreme political polarization of our country. It seems as if we've all chosen sides, even if our perception of the lessor of those two evils doesn't really represent us very well. And then we all go to extremes in a viscous cycle to counter "the other sides extreme".
