I paid for 'the Secret'

Quote from Gottschalk:

So what if two people think two different things? How does that get manifested? Is it a battle of the wills?

Can you turn into a dinosaur if you concentrate hard enough?

If thoughts had power beyond motivating people to take real action then why don't you just think about gold bars filling up your mail box and live off that?

Good questions but probably several millenia too early

A person's life may be a train wreck, that person knows that their life is a train wreck, they know they want to change it for the better, but they don't know how. That's a plausible scenario. That person could use some help and if they turn to The Secret, or Tony Robbins' Personal Power, or Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, and it actually works, that is they start solving their problems and moving forward, then it's worthwhile. Maybe they get help from the Bible, if so, that too is worthwhile.

Asessing myself I can see that I need to develop the characteristics of amibition, discipline, and enthusiasm. I have a lot of so-called self help books, I also have the Bible. I've gotten good ideas from all of them, they all helped at least to a small degree. I must say that I have never found anything of value in a cynic though.

I've never watched The Secret or read the book either. I'll probably pick them up sometime though, if for nothing else than to see what all the fuss is about.

Cynicism has value.

The idea that people should be recklessly enthusiastic is absurd.

A person should measure risk and reward and act in a logical way that fits with his personality.
