The PJ 600k-700k estimate includes 250k pre-ordered ipads. So he's projecting 350k-450k over the weekend, which is in-line with estimates.

As of 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 19 of the 20 Apple Stores reached by Munster's team still had iPads in stock. But a search of Twitter messages Sunday morning turned up reports of stockouts at many Best Buy (BBY) outlets and several Apple retail locations, including Palo Alto and Santa Clara, Calif., Portland, Ore., and Lancaster, Penn.

Pretty damn good. iSuppli is saying 7 million for 2010 which may be a bit over optimistic but then it should handily beat the 3 million projections.

oh please, it's like stating "Dow 40k". this thing has epic failure written all over it. 350k for the weekend is shit. aapl wil be lucky to sell 2mm in 2010.
 
as a comparison, the 3GS sold 1mm the first weekend, and it requires a shitty att contract! they can't sell half as many ipads on wifi?
 
Dude, you seem pretty antagonistic against Apple.

The estimate for the first weekend are 600k-700k which you pointed as well. 1.3 mil over the next 7-8 months seems pretty low ball to me.

No, that number includes web and in-store pre-orders over the last few weeks. The 3GS sold out quickly during the first weekend. BBY had the ipad late into the afternoon on Saturday.

Short it, epic fail.
