I Never owned a DELL and never will

Wow, the main problem was the motherboard that they were installing, but you would have thought they could have identified the problem earlier and stopped using that company.

Also, I am surprised that they decided to use low end motherboards for this model of computer instead of something better since business are going to be using a computer at least 5 days and 8 hours per day.

Makes you wonder whether they considered the known capacitor culprits might make it through the 1-year warranty period without too many failures. After which Dell would have no obligation.

Than again with '97% failure rate within 3-years" [projected], Dell shouldn't expect repeat buys from those customers.... not a good way to build brand loyalty.
 
If you look at how long the issue existed (the years of manufacture of the affected systems) it does look like they identified and corrected the issue.

They may have also had recourse on the manufacturer of the defective capacitors.
 
FWIW... The T3400s are gone, but some of the T3500s at Dell outlet are going for $529-$650. The CPU on those units, while OK for trading, are a bit whimpy... about the same grunt as a C2D, E8300.

Still, a business class machine with X58 mobo and 3-year warranty for that price?... a deal worth consideration.

The Precision models (T3400-T7500) really ARE "business class" machines... unlike Vostro and Optiplex.
