This is not really a criticism, I do the same when I look to paint my house or fix my car
I think one of the main issues for me is non-programmers don't quite understand the complexities of automating something that appears pretty trivial. The other problem is that it's hard for them to differentiate good quality vs. bad quality (and rightly so) so they naturally just go for the least expensive and hope to get at least something going.It really isn't worth it.
