I don't know. I think someone gave a reason for it earlier in this thread but i'd have to look back through to find it. I've been watching it for a couple of years and the good news is, this sort of movement is very common.
One day early in June, I went short, blinked and the market had dropped 200 points. Never heard a reason for it.
