Didn't the terrorists engage us on our soil first?
Actually, I think it's really a chicken/egg question. 9/11, the first wtc bombing in '93, first gulf war, Ollie North...all of these may have caused or been caused by terrorism of some sort, in some part of the world, and it all came back to bite us in the ass.
And as for the war in Iraq, doesn't it look like we've lit the fuse to a civil war, and we're still standing in the middle of the battlefield? Isn't that reminiscent of the French involvement in the American Revolution? And after, what happened to the French?
What does the French and British in the revolutionary war have to do with the US ousting a dictator and jump starting a new democratic govt in Iraq? I don't see any analogy there.
You think 9/11 was our fault? There probably isn't much I can say then to change your mind about that very extreme position. On second though the reason it happened was probably our fault in a way. It is our fault that no action was taken after the first wtc bombing, and the USS Cole bombing. I am happy to see action being taken now. Who knows what we would have had to deal with if we did not (it looks like we may have thwarted a subway bombing in NYC among other things).
Oh, also this was directed to everyone not just you my friend...
