I have a system. I want to turn it into an algo (robot trading) system

Also can you educate me what would you call this kind of trading ?
Is it algo, a quant, HFT, a robot, a mechanical system, a black-box system or something else ?

Also any idea on the kind of cost involved for the entire project ?

Thank You
We call this kind of trading "Indicator Soup". Not meant deregatory; in our experience some of those systems indeed work, although most do not. As to the cost involved, and about how to work with a programmer, I've written a blog post here:

As I said before I have no knowledge of programming & don't have time to learn it.
But system does use traditional indicators & since a template is created in an unsophisticated software that I am using, it can be easily duplicated in platforms like Meta Trader, Ninjatrader & Tradestation. There might be more but I am not aware of it.
On that template there is a price window with traditional indicators & drawing tools. Under the price window there are 8 sub windows each again containing traditional indicators.
I have designed a set of rules for entry, stop loss & exit points.
I also use 12 monitors ( but one CPU ) for one future ( Say ES ) with different time frames in each monitor. There are times when I get more than one signal on those 12 monitors. e.g. I might get signals on 3 minute, 8 min & 21 min charts & sometimes entry price is different on those 3 signals. I want to execute all the signals given by the system.
Now in layman's term, can you guys suggest what is the best way to totally automate the system where computer does everything ? i.e. use one of the above platforms or a better platform OR write a code for the entire system ?
It doesn't take that long to learn the essentials of programming. I once learned my second programming language, Pascal, in 1 weekend. You should study whatever material you can obtain of the 3 above platforms, MetaTrader, Ninjatrader & Tradestation, and decide which one you want to use. You need to know which one you want before you can approach a programmer. Most programmers only know 1 or 2 platforms. Most will not know all 3.

It's the same here or any other forum. Most people will only know 1 or 2 platforms. They will not know all 3.

Hi,

I have developed a system that uses constant tick bars & traditional indicators & I have spent a great deal of time testing manually & seems to be working pretty good on most futures & Indices using a regular charting software. But that software is not sophisticated enough to make it completely mechanical so I can not test it with large amount of historical data.

I want to get it programmed so that it will be like an algo trading where the algo will do everything including finding the signals & execution of orders with entry, stops & exits.

Can you guys please suggest me which charting software will do this and find a programmer to do that ?

Also I am going to have to disclose the system to the programmer so how do I protect myself ?

Thank You
Neal

I'd say you stick with manual and make your trades that way. More profitable and less complicated. I may not be familiar with day trading yet, but I know how to create successful systems and nature of the beast that comes along with them.

I am just in the process of getting some people to code up some MT4 trading ideas I have been harbouring for some time. You have to set out your idea VERY clearly, send them a copy and they will respond within a few days to tell you how much and how long to do it. Plus costs of course. I paid up front $150. I am now checking out the first draft to see if there are any bugs. But it looks good. Their address is
