You are exactly right. Whether in bikers, gangbangers, or high end thieves, they wouldn't take what's called a "straight job" for any amount of money. It's the same reason that a few, not many, but a few guys just can't adjust after combat. There are people who just love that shit. Here's the problem they run into when making that decision to live outside the law. I can't recall who said it, but basically it's when you decide to live outside the law, you no longer have the protection of the law when things go south.
The big difference with blacks is what we're seeing is this gangland lifestyle infiltrate a sizable portion of their communities. Some would say this is the result of hopelessness that they feel. Problem is, if that were true they would have been a lot more prone to gang culture 60 years ago when things were much, much worse for blacks in general. That wasn't the case. So why now with all kinds of opportunity being presented to them? Indoctrination. Brainwashing. A systematic narrative being shoved down their throats over and over again until they actually believe their only shot is a life of crime. Blacks are often completely out of touch with reality. That's how you get thousands of people to believe that this racist white cop decided that he was going to go out and kill some innocent black kid, in the middle of the day, in the middle of the street, in the middle of the town, in front of several dozen witnesses, just cause he felt like it. They actually believe that's what happened. I'm not sure there's any coming back from that deep of delusion.
