1) they do everything to divide the population.
So now we are "educating" people on reducing divisiveness
2) once they divide, they get people to fight each other, and during this time, they can divert the common money for their special interests
3) they hate it when people are united.
In your country example, I can bet that IF a politician was to come and say
"OK we stop all these divisions, etc... I want to check the tax receipts, who gets what, who get paid what,
who get appointed to these good jobs, etc..." this politician ( and his family) will have serious problems
and would need 24/7 security
4) they hate it when politicians ask people to start reading books and to shut down the television.
Guess why?

America was founded upon the principles of individual liberty and freedom from government intervention in our lives.

The American Founders were well aware of the oppressions of feudal Europe and were determined for that type of government NOT be here. And it wasn't until about 1900. Then, the Liberals/Progressives started talking "free benefits"... and that's when we started tumbling over the cliff.

My grandfather was a smart guy... not college educated... perhaps not even HS (he died when I was a teen, and I never asked him about how far he went in school. One of my favorite uncles never went to school beyond the 6th grade, and his heart was as big and generous as all outdoors. Though not formally educated, he served in WWII as an interpreter of German and Russian... not sure where he got that... he also drove his father's car out onto a frozen lake while trying to impress a girl... and had the car fall through the ice, but that's another story for another time).... but street smart in the ways of life. I carry some of his wisdom.

We're not going to let anybody in America starve or freeze to death, of course... but if my grandfather were running this country, "social support" might just be "3-squares and a cot". If you want more out of your life, GET A FARKIN' JOB AND PAY FOR IT YOURSELF LIKE THE REST OF US. (And if you won't or can't do better for yourself, so be it. You can live out your life in a community shelter which provides life's basics at public expense.) That philosophy was the crux of America up until about 100 years ago. That's also a big part of the reason so many people wanted to immigrate here.

Obama and the DemoCraps here, however, now want us to be more like Socialist Europe... not because it's "beneficial for American society", but because it comes with all of Socialism's government controls/abuses. No surprise, considering they are all scumbag politicians.

Ah yeah I understand why they are selling to the American people that they are trying to do like us, when in fact they are not! What they are trying to get is access to all people's funds without in exchange well-being for everyone. Your problems is the stuff "Atlantist-Americano" want to import here : interest groups dominance.

I'd say the only problem for us is : people actually start their job career extremely early.
You study one subject, then you basically can not work in any other field than the one related to your studies;
except may be if you go into Civil Service.
But what we have is loyal and intelligent individuals who were ready to suffer for the good of the country:
so it is normal we support them against the parasites who are as always masters in deception.
