I figured out way people listen to gang rap.

Quote from Thunderdog:

If rage is your emotion of choice, which rap seems adept at generating, then why not just take it out on a punching bag? Do something about it. I suppose that, in one context, impotently listening to someone else's rage and vicariously drawing on someone else's machismo in a rap song can also qualify as wimpy, passive behavior. Unless, of course, it is your music of choice for drive-bys.

is that all you see here is rage? frustration? unrest?

and what is YOUR music of choice?

it's just music dude, a reflection not a CURE for human nature.

what's your poison, dude? because there isn't ONE genre that doesn't have these elements. what you like, care to say? i'll bet you don't :)

Quote from Supermax:

obviously, you have NO understanding of black culture.

what's worse is you don't seem to care.

SuperMax likes gangster rap. wonders never cease.

I'm not sure your particular culture is what you refer to as "black culture", but the suggestion that people have an obligation to care about the glorification of criminality, SuperMax, is really what's worse. The only reason to pay any attention to it at all is to guage how it infects the larger culture. (ie; the building of more and more SuperMax prisons, murder rates, rape, assault, drop out rates, teen pregnancy, etc ...)

Most want to live in a world were civility is prized, not one where degenerates are worshipped.

But please continue, this is very enlightening.

like what?
Rock (all kinds), jazz, blues, pop, disco, reggae, classical, opera (but not in a big way), some country. I even like to listen to yodelling.

I actually advised the gym owner that I would be willing to pay more for my membership if they did not play rap music (sort of like protection money), and that other like-minded folks might be willing to do the same. I suggested they do an informal survey among members. Management didn't budge, so I did, by leaving. You can trust me to mean it when I tell you that I really hate the shit.

I wish my grass was emo

so it would cut itself.
Alternatively, you could let your lawn listen to rap. Then you could watch the grass blades mow each other down.
