I don't just disagree with Liberals. I HATE THEM.

That post was in direct reply to an openly racist poster on this site who had just suggested that all Muslims should be "corralled" into the Middle East and that if that if they enter the US they should be "shot on sight". Yes, I do think some time in the pen could have some rehabilitating value for guys like Scat, and maybe they'd think twice before posting this kind of hatred online.

I may have been a little severe in my post but strong words are needed to combat strongly worded racist ideas, and he's a repeat offender. You may disagree, and you can note I am not advocating you go to prison for that opinion.

Can't we use the term "progressive?" I think it better describes the philosophy and better differentiates itself from backward looking conservative thought.

The sad thing is though is that kind of right wing thought is very common. The vast majority of conservatives on this forum, and in real life, are racist, selfish, ignorant, xenophobic, misogynistic, paranoid and deluded. I know that sounds like an extreme judgement, but just look at what the right wing nuts say here. It sounds extreme simply because the truth is that they are really fucked up.

You aren't understanding this. The whole concept of branding people as "liberals" is a nonstarter, it's bigotry. And if one uses the example of Canada, where he lives, it's not even a common aspect of discussions between people and how they relate to each other. This whole derisive "liberal vs conservative" nonsense is a largely American thing that has gotten out of control.

Put it this way, if I were to think back to everyone I have ever met in schools, work places, sport clubs, I don't ever remember meeting someone who was so "liberal" in nature that it defined them as a person. And you'd need that to be "despicable" and generate hate for Achilles28. Not that he needs that, he invents a lot of that in his head, and starts randomly spitting on mythical random people that somehow are ruining his world for him. The one he chose in ... Canada !!!

But you know what, all these threads do is help highlight how much conflict there is in the US these days. My opinion, it's harming middle class America but it's your country, you get the country you designed for better or worse. Most Canadians wouldn't want to live anywhere else, and we're ok with many Americans having a distorted or uninformed opinion about us. In fact, it's largely expected, we often make light of it. If US citizens feel the same way, why all the acrimony and pent up hatred on here ? Something seems off.

Just know that I do not live in the US.
My interests in these elections were because of political betting. Hence posting on P&R.
And I took it from there. Analysing Trump - that I used to admire having read his books and luckily for me I did not enroll in his Trump "uni"- was instructive ( the lies that he was a self-made man, when in reality it would be more like inheriting in today's terms around 3 billions $ from his dad but squandering part of it, and lieing about what is left, etc.).

Now regarding Achille2_ & al : I have to say their views, ways of thinking, strongly worded negative emotions were very alien to me. But by exchanging, I came to understand what their perspective was based on. Basically suffering. And the fact that they have never had the chance of "working their suffering so as to free themselves of the negative effects/belief systems/environmental conditionnings that took hold of them". Obviously that is just my opinion.

An extreme case of bigotry. Clinton may have apologized for her 'deplorables' remark, but she was actually speaking he mind and as one can read daily in the P&R section the disdain a lot of her supporters have for others is just staggering. It's downright comical how these characters project their own behavior on others. You can't argue with these people. They're so brainwashed that they have become completely disconnected from reality. Lenin referred to these types as useful idiots, surely Clinton holds the same view of them.

I stand by my statement and she is right. Some of the Trumpers are deplorable. This is no surprise as Trump himself is deplorable. It's disgusting how many people cannot/willnot see that.

Baloney. >9 million illegals entered America since 911. Criminals, Cartels, Gangs, human smugglers, slaves, drugs, weapons, terrorists cross that border. You are extremely foolish to ignore it.

- illegals suppress the domestic wage level (take jobs)
- are felons at twice the native rate
- are a net cost on social services (200-300 Billion per year)
- send their money back home (drain the economy)
- vote democrat at an average of 8:1 (importing future electoral victories)
- terrorists exploit Americas border routinely. Border patrol, journalists, FBI report same

Those are all facts. You come off as a psuedo-intellectual when you miss the facts staring you right in the face. Delusional comes to mind.
If I remember right, young George Bush was president on 911. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Are you now holding it against illegals for voting against your wishes? (Is that what "vote democrat at 8:1 means?') If you are, I think you should know that people here illegally can't vote! In fact, even a lot of people who come here legally, have lived here legally a long time, work hard every day, maybe legally raised a family here, and could even legally have had a kid that helped the Chicago Cubs win the world series, can't vote! Only U.S. citizens can vote for President. If you think that only citizens that look and think like you do should be allowed to vote, you might want to consider voting for Donald Trump, otherwise I would suggest voting for anyone else.

There are far too few to benefit significantly from Republican, supply-side, economic policies to elect anyone that must run at large nationally. (The Gerrymandered House Districts are another matter.) Consequently, the Republicans in charge were understandably desperate to expand their voter base. But things went badly wrong. The Dr. Jekyll-like Republican establishment unwittingly created their own Mr.Hyde in the monster, Donald Trump. And now Dr. Jekyll is about to be destroyed by Mr. Hyde. How fitting!
