The Samsungs can be probably be configured either way. The 6600GT has 1 DVI + 1 VGA port. For 3rd & 4th monitors, it's easier to find cards if you can run on VGA.

Why don't you hold off on buying more cards for now. I've got PCI VGA cards we can try out with your 6600, and you can evaluate from there.

ok..yes you are correct cause I have two Samsung 970 P's on the Pentium III and thats with a dual Matrox Millenium 550 with one DVI and one VGA...they work fine but if you look closely you can see the difference...but it does not bother me...(I installed some true color software)

By the way I can get 970 P's retail at Comp USA for $469.00 (they sell them for $499.00) They have my two additional 970 P's there in stock...

I have an extra dual card too...but I do not know what it is....the PCsurplus online store tried to rip me when I got the Pentium III and I had to argue to finally get a dual card...by then I had the Matrox Milennium off of ebay...

Why don't they start making these dual VGA cards with two DVI outputs!!! sheesh...or they could offer them at least!

P.S. Can you believe I had no takers for free 21" Sony CRT monitors here in ET...I set both of them out by the dumpster and they were gone within 1/2 hour...(the trash diggers in Denver have a field day...especially on eviction days!)

I looked at your first post and saw you ordered a 6600GT. Nearly all of the new PCIE x16 cards are for gaming, so they're going to be mostly similar except for power. They run hotter and most have a cooling fan. The only one I know of off-hand with passive cooling is Nvidia Quadro NVS 285.

your case is one huge son of a &%$#@ ..i didn't like mine. huge boxy ugly filled with mostly hot air! way too big and ugly

Expensive RAM, if your mobo will tolerate it, will increase overall performance by about 2%... hardly cost efficient. You'd be better off buying more value RAM than a smaller amount of premium RAM.
