I did it!...I just configured and ordered a Athlon Dual Core from CyberPowerSystems

anyways...

I will be lucky if I get this system by the end of the month. They said thay are swamped with orders to build.

I will post here to this thread when I get it and after I get Windows XP pro installed...

I appreciate all the comments and if there are any late comers with hardware knowledge, it is not too late for me to cancel/amend my order...So speak up! I know I could probably save 500 bucks on a normal computer and not a HotRod, but will I have less reliability and longevity with this rig?

My TRS 80, Commodore 64 and Timex Sinclair...are going in the trash! (they have been my friends for decades :))

Michael B.

Probably no reduced reliability nor longevity... just wasted $$ on unused horsepower.... :D

Just because your rig has 2 PCIE X16 slots doesn't mean you have to have 2 high powered video cards.

In fact I'm trying to get a quad-screen setup using 2 PCIE x16 Nvidia Quadro NVS 285...:p

Just thought I'd let you know this is a piece of shit. Get a SCCI IBM (if you can) hard drive otherwise wasting your money on the whole deal. Don't even bother. Antec power supply is an excellent choice however. Are you getting the Antec case as well?

I wish I had time to go over the whole deal but am too busy.

I am getting some funky gaming case that was the default deal (I wanted the temperature readout)...Its not Antec...
I could have received a 5 or 10 bucks credit for taking a normal beige case....

They did not offer an IBM...is IBM still making hard drives? your not suggesting something that I cannot find are you?

I have the 36 gig Wrapter 10K RPM. It's pretty quite. Much quieter than my old seagate.

There are advantages to a smaller hard drive. They have faster seek times because there is less disk to search. For a stand along trading computer its a good choice. Better to put your extra money in to a 250 gig external. Much more useful, particularly if you want swap MP3 with your friends.
