I stand corrected. I was apparently wrong to imply that you considered yourself to be a Libertarian. But of course you are incorrect to assume that HomelyWizzard's view on Firearms (not any view, his view) would preclude him/her being a Libertarian. It doesn't at all preclude that possibility. In general, many of those calling themselves "Libertarians" in the U.S. hold to a political philosophy that is much closer to what Chomsky has termed 'anarcho-capitalism' than it is to Libertarian philosophy everywhere else in the world. In the National election just completed, this problem of what it means to be a 'Libertarian' in the U.S., was evident in the rift between the 'Libertarian' candidate for President and his running mate.

A national gun registry. Sweet. What would be the purpose of that, except to have a handy list of where to go to confiscate firearms? There are 300 million or so guns out there already. Do you think many people will voluntarily list them on such a registry?
Trump is already toying with being a one term president with the DACA amnesty and not pushing for the wall. Cucking out on gun control would finish him. How is it possible for a person to buy 100 guns within a year and the FBI not fucking notice? Are they stupid? What are those background checks for if they can't pinpoint a psychopath? In my book, (leaving gun laws aside) this was a total FBI failure.

I am curious about that as well. I believe the background check data is supposed to destroyed. At the same time however, I would have thought the BATF would have some way of picking up this level of activity. It raises at a minimum the suspicion that he is acting as a dealer and needs a FFL. Or that he is selling them on the black market.

Chomsky seems to be saying you need bigger govt (and therefore less liberty) because its better than bigger corps and less liberty.
The very vast majorities of today's Libertarians are in favor of bigger individual rights and smaller govt a less powerful govt. We know the state is now the instrument of the cronies and we want that power reduced by reducing big govt and decentralizing the power.
