I know my post came off as rude, but I thought I would post the irony of the OP

"I will work hard and study- so tell me what to do." LOL

Seriously, good luck OP. There is alot of good info out there.

I would start by reading both of the market wizards books. O and a word of advice, take your time and be patient with yourself before you start trading live and the same goes for trading system developement.

Best regards,

Good advice! I'm a Series 7 broker, and Series 66 RIA. I learn something new everyday, so take it at your own pace before you put any $ out there.

Yes, you'll probably learn alot on this board, so keep reading... That's what I do, and I get paid to do trade for others for a living. NO ONE has a magic bullet! As long as you're not out searching for a magic bullet all the time, and master the discipline, you'll be making $.

Btw, there's no fee for that advice. :)

There are 3 books. :) He's talking about Jack D. Schwager books. They are very good. But this site is full of recommendations of great books, courses, brokers, etc. . Use the search feature as advised. Good luck to you.

First shatter your unrealistic expecatations. remove from your brain any thoughts that it will takes you less than two years to start seeing actual results being a total newbie. If you disagree with me or think I am being foolish, then all the books and training in the world will not help because you are already not mentally prepared nor do you have enough respect for the task at hand.

Remember what I wrote and come back in a few months time and keep re reading it. call me rude, call me whatever you want, but I can give you a 100% guarantee that I am right. If you disagree then take up golf tomorrow as a newbie and tell me how long it takes you to shoot under par consistently.

Good luck and remember 2 years.... assuming you have the skill, mental stability, risk tolerance, and discipline to last that long. Newbies always assume those skills come naturally. Any difficult skill takes time to develop. If you want to prove you are serious then let what I have said sink in before you read one book...

I am looking for a bit of guidance. In the opinion of all of you highly experienced traders, what is the best way to get started in terms of:

1) what books to read??
2) what video home study courses are worth while??
3) Is it necessary to get professional tutoring??
4) what markets should I consider trading??
5) what platform should I consider??

Your help is greatly appreciated. I am flying totally blind, but I am willing to put the time, $ and effort into doing this properly. I am very serious about becoming a successful (albeit part time) trader. Thanks again for any help.+
