Hurry up public option!!

There's a public option right now for some called medicare, ask the geezers about how sucky it can be. Oh and you guessed it, it's perpetually bankrupt and threatens our economy with huge unfunded mandates.

did some nitwit just say he wants that expanded???

i have taken 3 parents through the end of life process with medicare and have one still alive on it now. it is a wonderful program for those who use it. they get the best care no questions asked.
the funding is another problem but is easlly solved by means testing.

You do realize that what you propose "means testing" is exactly opposite of what many want to do making medicare essentially available to everyone which will destroy the plan sooner or greatly decrease the service.

Of course if you get your wish on the
"means testing" you will have to change

Just received a notice in the mail from my health insurance company, premiums going up by 28%. I'm damn sure ready for congress to do something about the health insurance industry.

Im in CA...my premiums are only going up 16% Might be due to alot of illegals leaving california as there is no work here anymore.

Quote from Ricter:

In a sense, an insurance company's product is money, which is the same entity as profit. So, rather uniquely, if they can cut production, ie. payouts, their profit rises, all other things being equal. Having shareholders and boards of directors running healthcare is a bad idea.

What's a better idea? I'm not sure yet. I think a lot more could be spent on advertising healthy lifestyle. That might put them at odds with fast food and other corporations, though...
So it`s beter to let special interest run healthcare?

Same could be said about Bush ,buts its ok with the teabaggers as long as he was white
Liberaldemocrats/socialdemocrats(fascists/communists/nazis/socialists/collectivists etc), same shit different wrapping!

You don't understand Mav, expanded with people who pay premiums out of their pocket not government paid and who are younger and healthier. It would be worth looking at the numbers to see if it's feasible.

The insurance companies have you by the balls, if you go price shop for a new insurer you have preexisting conditions to deal with and the dreaded first two years where if you do come up with a disease they can always say it was preexisting even if you don't know about it. Come on Republicans either get off your fat asses and help make a decent bill or come up with a solution to this mess and Democrats grow some balls, they control the congress and senate and the white house and they still can't get shit done. Well guess I'll start paying higher premiums now that I got the bitching and griping out of my system.

Correction it went up 51%.
Can't believe all the people here on the side of the insurance companies.
The insurance companies are not health care, repeat that to yourselves until you understand.
I would pay a premium for a buy in to medicare. At least there I know medicare won't take your premiums and then fight you not to pay for treatment. And the premiums would help keep medicare solvent too. But no say the republicans, that might work and then what would the insurance industry do?

Are there enough resources to provide everything for everyone, if demand increases, prices go up?
