Extinction is not an exaggeration...... it's a definite for many species, and not impossible for man. We are throwing the earth's climate for a loop. A positive feedback loop. Scary shit. But we still have the Republican morons saying it's a hoax or no big deal.
from the article......
"Scientists are putting out the warning call that rapid, life-threatening climate change lies ahead in our near futureâbut most are drowned out by the political arguments and denialist rhetoric of climate change skeptics.
The well-funded effort by free market think tanks, energy lobbyists, and industry advocates to blur the public perception of climate science should come as no surprise.
The effects of an ice-free artic by 2015 donât seem so threatening if you stand to gain billions of dollars by sending drill bits into the potentially huge oil reservoirs there."
I disagree. Worst case scenario, remaining small bands of humans, reduced to hunting/gathering, would be able to eat insects if nothing else.Quote from futurecurrents:

yes, biologists have charts showing the dominant species. For he most part, it is kind of static. But then there was a time when dinosaurs become so dominant that on the charts they dwarfed all other species. There's no way any more to make the charts relevant. When you look at the charts today, you can either set it up so dinosaurs are just little blip, or you can put it in context and humans are off the charts.
