I'm thinking of holding through earnings. I like what HP is doing:
1. They spun off their consumer stuff (laptops, printers, etc.) into a separate legal entity; namely, HPQ. I see these as a bit of a declining industry, so it's good for HPE
2. They recently bought Silicon Graphics International (SGI), which leads me to believe that they're cooking up some sweet new technology (*cough* virtual reality?)
3. They recently got a nice pop on rumors that they're selling their software unit.
4. They're laying off peeps, which makes me sad. At the same time it says that they're tightening up the ship.
I see HPE getting focused on enterprise technology and innovation.
So although the earnings surprise is a mystery, I think that the forward guidance is going to be good.
