HP to cut 9,000 jobs!!!!!!

Quote from nutmeg:

At least they had the decency not to blame Obama's health care plan.

Ahhh, to be young and naive again...

No company that does business with the US govt -- which basically means, no S&P500-sized company -- will dare speak openly about the impact of the public-policy initiatives of the leftmost President in US history.

It's not decency, it's fear of losing govvy contracts, and/or having to appear at show-trials in Washington in front of showboating Congressional microphone/camera-hogs.

Quote from tiddlywinks:

Teldar Paper, Mr Cromwell, has 33 different vice presidents...
...each earning over $200,000 a year.

Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do. And I still can't figure it out.

One thing I do know is that our paper company lost $110m last year. And I'll bet half of that was spent in all the paperwork between all these vice presidents!

Gordon Gekko, Wall Street 1987

Exactly, American companies are full of excess baggage/driftwood. Microsoft and Cisco are two other notorious companies with a huge glut of non essential space wasting people who just attend meetings, and do power points etc..

US companies are going to have to learn to be leaner to survive the new 21st century economy. No more 10 chiefs 1 indian ratios.

Been saying for a long time that 90% of the workforce are either useless or profoundly unproductive.

Amazing the system works at all.
