This happened to my gf's HP. New power supply and was back in business.

Back in business. Power supply was the culprit.

my HP power supply went out too. Be grateful yours just went dead without burning or melting, I still donât know what that dripping mess of grey chewed bubble gum looking crap was inside of mine, but damn it smelled bad when it burned.
