How's your economy holding up, Michigan?

Now that is just plain mean. :(

I moved to Texas back in 1999 then got laid off from Ameritrade in 2001 and eventually ended up moving back to Michigan (after living in Florida for a couple of years).

There is currently a mass exodus from this state...especially by those who recently graduated from Colleges. Enormous brain drain which will ensure that the state does not recover economically... even when the rest of the nation does.

Hey maybe we can sell our water from the Great Lakes to you thirsty fuckers in the West...since the Colorado river is supposedly drying up!!!

Now that's a great idea! Michigan should sell it's fresh water so it can afford to pay all the unemployment benefits.

Rate 1 stars all you want. It's not going to save Michigan's economy. You guys are gonna have an effective tax rate twice of Manhattans to pay for this mess.

Granholm will discuss Michigan's brain drain

With half of Michigan's college graduates now taking their diplomas across the state line, Gov. Jennifer Granholm will address Michigan's brain drain at a public forum on April 16.

Granholm, who set a goal of doubling the state's college graduates, has instead seen the number of grads leaving the state double, according to The Detroit News series, "Leaving Michigan Behind."

Guess the side effect is an increased IQ when people across the country move to Texas.

PS: I did live in texas for a while, guess the avg IQ decreased after I moved out

Half of university grads flee Michigan
State tries to bolster grad rates, but growing number move away
Ron French / The Detroit News

Chicago -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm must see Emily Zuker in her nightmares.

Young, bright and college-educated, the Michigan State University grad got her degree in 2006 and immediately moved to Chicago -- now home to the largest concentration of recent MSU grads in the nation.

"It's just like being back at Michigan State," said Zuker, 25.
