Howard Dean is insane

Quote from hoodooman:

The republicans who have nothing to offer the religious right, right to lifers and racists have been pandering to these factions for years. If they didn't they would never win an election.

regards

Well said.

Quote from ARogueTrader:

There is a large difference between the extreme religious right, and a moderate Republican.

Bush ran as a moderate Republican, but pandered to the extreme religious right to gain votes.

The extreme religious right is not all that happy with Bush, and some of his moderate actions.
the extreme right and extreme left BOTH SUCK.

libertarian is the direction to head.

political extremism in ANY direction is never going to fly in america.

Dean Regrets Pain of Confederate Flag Remark

By Ron Fournier
The Associated Press
November 5, 2003

NASHUA, N.H. -- Howard Dean said Wednesday he regretted the pain he caused by saying that the Democratic Party must court Southerners who display the symbol of the Confederacy in their pickup trucks.

Speaking in New York about campaign finance, the former Vermont governor sought to quell the dispute that erupted over his recent comment and his unwillingness to apologize for it during Tuesday night's debate.

"I regret the pain that I have caused, but I will tell you there is no easy way to do this and there will be pain as we discuss it and we must face this together hand in hand as Dr. (Martin Luther) King and Abraham Lincoln asked us to do," Dean said.

Dean caves to the hype. he might have actually won more votes if he had stood his ground and called them on this.

Quote from Maverick74:

Here is an excerpt from a Washington times article.

In this mission of sabotage, no political figure has stooped as low as Al Gore. In the wake of the war that went spectacularly well — the swiftest, most casualty-free liberation of a nation in human history — Al Gore has accused Mr. Bush of deceit and cynical manipulation of the facts with the purpose of misleading the American public and sacrificing U.S. soldiers. By linking these accusations to the Florida election recount, he and other Democrats have implied that the war was merely an instrument of a partisan plot to deprive them of their claim to the White House.
Mr. Gore's bottom line in his Aug. 7 speech attacking Mr. Bush's conduct of the war on terror was this: "Too many of our soldiers are paying the highest price for the strategic miscalculations, serious misjudgments and historic mistakes that have put them and our nation in harm's way."
Mr. Gore's attack will be recorded as a milestone in the sad decline of one of the great U.S. political parties. In breaking bipartisan ranks in the war on terrorism, Mr. Gore is seconded by both leaders of the Democratic congressional delegation and every Democratic presidential nominee with the exceptions of Mr. Lieberman and Mr. Edwards, and by the party's politically activist base.

That's about all the Dems have left, a lot of 60's krap, the veracity of the whole underlying ideas of the left have been disproven by history, doesn't bother them at all though.

:D

All the ideas of the 60's by the liberals are "krap" proven by history?

Oh you mean women's rights, minority rights, giving peace a chance, questioning authority, making love not war, etc. are all "krap?"

The revisionist historians are hard at work already. My how the pendulum swings.

I suppose you would like to return to the days of Nixon in the White House too.

What struck me about Howard Dean's statement was that it was not a racist appeal, but merely reflected the democrats' assumption that any low or moderate income southerner who voted republican was racist. In the liberal lexicon, a confederate flag is about as stigmatizing as it gets. So, by his description, he is saying these people are clearly racists, but I need their votes anyway. His theory is that liberal social programs are more important to them than being insulted.
