How would future economies work when 90% of jobs are replaced by robots/computers?

90% of the jobs have been replaced by technology many times over... started with the wheel, then the assembly line, and the printing press...
That's an interesting idea. I think jobs won't go anywhere, but the essence of them will change. We'll probably need more and more programmers.

Further to having an army of robots, this will make all those below officers redundant. More millions unemployed. A country such as the USA with very lax gun laws may regret having so many with nothing to do except take their share by force.

:D

ha, ha, in your perverted view the world won't be safe enough for citizens to own firearms. Pathetic.
I suppose you think the shootings that have occured in schools etc. are just a figment of a lying press.
Even as I type this there has been another shooting at a Florida airport. Only 9 dead but even so they never used to happen on such a scale with some regularity.. A President or two were shot.
Give the kids automatic assault rifles and they will use them. Not just for shooting sqirrels either.

Only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

The problem is...when everyone is strapped, how do I tell the difference?

You can tell the difference when the bad guy who is strapped does something illegal with his strapped-on piece.

P.S. How did this thread go from future economies and robotic automation, to gun-carrying citizens? Fascinating.

And another thing, We don't have "lax gun laws" we have a Bill of Rights which recognizes our right to bear arms. So there. Don't try to bring us down to your level. Many of our rights are recognized because your King denied them.

Same were the fears when computers got started in our daily lives in early 80s. However, computers ended up creating many more jobs than they took. Same might be true with robots. Many new industries and products might prop up as a result of high automation in the society.
