how would a US citizen short China?

Quote from Cutten:

Form a company outside the US (e.g. a UK company), then use that to open another account to trade markets that are illegal for US citizens. Cost would be perhaps $150 and it would take a few days.

You meant to say 'illegal for US residents." There is an important difference. Even foreigners residing in N. America are ostensibly prohibited by the CFTC from trading certain overseas contracts. Go figure ...

Quote from ktm:

I would suggest shorting the ETF for Taiwan, EWT is the symbol.

Or EPP the ETF for Asia ex-Japan. I've owned some for a while but am selling it this week.

I don't think any of the international flavored ETFs have options as of yet. The Taiwan ETF should be cheap enough to short on it's own.

If you are bearish China, then you must be bearish commodities and Aus Dollar. Therefore short copper or Aussie Dollar.
