How would a SWIFT ban impact owning Russian stocks?

I shorted RSX off the open, but the thing is so thin/manipulated. Somebody put a 1,000,000 share bid out at $10.75 at the close. They pop it 5% on nothing, probably funds looking to sell, but don't want their price to keep getting fucked.

Well, they said that they have to get out of some positions by March 25th, because of the SWIFT rules. I don't know what it's trading on now since the Moscow Stock Exchange is closed lol. He did say they've done it before. I heard on CNBC that ETF's did a good job accurately following Greece. They said it re-opened about where it should have.

Moscow stock exchange open pushed back, sell orders from foreigners banned (CNN)

I know a person who opened 3 Mc Donalds somewhere in Russia. They were friendly and helpfull. After 2-3 years the business was running very well. Then a man came to him and gave him a cheque. The man asked the Russian why he got this cheque. The Russian answered: from now on these 3 Mc Donalds are mine. You should be gratefull that you are still alive. And now go.

You probably understand already that it was a very low price he got for his 3 restaurants.

This is not a story, it really happened many years ago. Must have been around +20 years ago.

so then maybe they become a tracking stock that one day they will start to be backed up underlying shares?

in any case, my broker won't let me trade russian adrs or rsx.

Interesting...I saw YNDX got halted, but I was able to trade RSX all day. ERUS was tradeable as well.

I have no clue what they're doing. RSX was obviously trading on air today.
 
Moscow exchange is about to return back to the old days...
