The big players are getting their hands into crypto.

I'm seeing ads from coinbase, PayPal, etc.

And in addition again, bitcoin is also a digital investment asset, i.e. Microstrategy, Square, NYDIG, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Fidelity, Paul Tudor Jones...

Most of these are traders. They likely saw a good opportunity to ride the wave for a quick low risk return. Same reason many people invest in pump and dump schemes, they know it's not worth anything but see short term profits. That's being smart, unlike the HODL imbeciles.
