How to use DDE to update my journal with latest stock prices?

I have an excel file with my portfolio and I'd like it to automatically update with the latest stock prices (as it is now I copy/paste them every few days at EOD). I know this is possible with DDE & IB but I can't find any documentation on it.

Can someone post an example?
