If you're referring to the states that thought it was a good idea to put the sick in with the elderly (brilliant, that) then I think the reason is that they figured out what a stupid decision that was. They locked down everything (some are still locked down a year later).

They open up and guess what is going to happen?

Of course, you remove the economic impact of locking down from the equation. Conveniently, of course.

Oh... you mean like how DeSantis put the elderly COVID positive patients back into the nursing homes owned by GOP donors being paid with taxpayer dollars per patient in Florida calling them "isolation centers" -- until they all got so overwhelmed with COVID he had to stop.
