How to obtain knowledge of and access to the data sources that are used by Investment funds ?

Hi guys,

How to obtain knowledge of and access to the data / information sources that are used by Investment institutions / Hedge funds etc ?

For example, was watching a video of a hedge fund manager who had TSLA in their portfolio and other stocks in portfolios. And they were describing
how TSLA was unique in their battery technology and knew the technical information about their battery technology and how it was better than other tech
etc and there was other things on other stocks they had a lot of info. I think the title of the person was Investment analyst or something. So I wonder
how to get a subscription or something to such information.

The information being talked about was as if it was from a definitive group of sources.

So I wanted to understand where is this information available and how to access it ?

Bloomberg Businessweek's cover story was very similar to what you describe this week. A video version goes up on Youtube a day or so after publication.

These analysts spend their entire days studying these things. They talk to scientists and read research papers. They might even buy a Tesla and dissect it.

They will subscribe to research services, but no retail investor will be able to afford them.

fake news. maybe the "Investment analyst" just made everything up.
 
Yeah, the hedge funds are more than happy to tell you what they are doing and with what stock so that, you can spread it on the internet? Get real. They operate with secrecy because the last thing they want is for retail traders to raise the stock prices on stocks they are buying. And if they are buying $10,000,000 worth of shares, that could be very expensive. Common sense tells you they want to pay less not more.

I am not looking for the output of their research. rather the sources of research in general (which I presume are used by hedge funds as well).

For example. if a company has a new technology in progress that would revolutionize the way business is done, where would one read about it ? Or for that matter, the things that various people are working with it being up to the retail investor to decide whether it would be something big and deciding to invest in it.

What to read - where to look for such information.
