How to make Raderscreen act as scanner

Quote from coolweb:

Radarscreen is like running 5000 chart analysis,.

what do you mean like runing 5000 symbole?
Lets say you have microsoft for 1min, 5min, 60 min intervals,
does this counted as 3 symbols or 1 symbols toward symbol limitation issue?

There are a few .pdf documents that you can download from their site (probably in the member area) that explain radarscreen but the concept it pretty simple (I"m not an expert, I don't use it that much yet).

1. Open a radarscreeen window in your desktop/workspace.
2. Put the lisdt of stocks in it you want to "track"
3. Attach a strategy or some indicator code to the radarscreen window.

For instance, you can create an indicator that the cells turn green if 4 or 5 different conditions are met. Or, it can generate an alert or something similar.

I am not new to raderscreen, as i have used it earlier, reread
my post as my question wasn't about typical use

Radarscreen in TS8 will do 2000 symbols intraday and 1000 if you need history. You paste in the symbols yourself. You have to use an indicator called a filter with a true/false output which you can sort by so all the ones that are ringing true will be at the top. You can click on format then sort and have it update every 5 seconds up to much longer intervals.

Radarscreen in TS2k works very much the same. I am not sure how many symbols it will work with.

I see no one answered my question, except repeating
what i already knew. Anyhow thanks for trying to help.

I'll appreciate anyone post this question in TS support forum
and give some feed back here? Thank you

I don't understand your last post because a few of us have already answered the questions below:

Here is your initial quesitons:

-I want Raderscreen to find me a list a symbols from all
universe of 15,000 stocks that meets the conditions that
i have specified

-Sort upcoming new symbols(that were not on the list
within last 30 seconds) that meet my conditions, to the top
of list every 30 seconds (without the need to add any
symboles myself)?

The answer is NO. As a few of us already answered,Radarscreen can NOT scan 15000 symbols (or more than 1000 or 2000) for criteria or conditions. It is NOT a market scanner. The ONLY thing it can do is scan through 1000 to 2000 stocks that you have already specified for conditions you can program.

i agree trade ideas has some limitations such as the 52 week high list. every new high it hits every time it hits a new high and sometimes thats 30 times a day. also another huge thing is i'd like to see stocks withing 5% of there new highs or lows not seen in 6 or 12 months not stocks hitting new highs every day as after a few new highs it means little were as something that hasn't hit a high in along time is powerful

Hi,
As has been mentioned Radarscreen is limited by the number of
symbols you can monitor. However there are a few points to
consider. I am not sure what the theoretical limit is but remember
that you will be limited by the amount of memory on your
machine, the number of symbols you want to monitor and the amount of historical data your Radarscreen study needs to generate the results. From experience I have found that at about
the 4-500 symbol limit my machine begins to get sluggish. My
spec is a laptop with 2Ghz P4 with 1Gb memory. Saying this, if you know what you are looking for then I would say that Radarscreen is very powerful. IMO I think that monitoring more than couple of hundred symbols is crazy. Most scans will not
normally spew out more than this anyway. The way that I do it is that I use TC2000 to do the scan then paste the results into
Tradestation Radarscreen.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Splat
