How to live and trade offshore (Singapore, etc)?

Just a few minor points:

Not all options are safe (naked puts or naked calls can be dangerous)

If you are growing capital you may wish to avoid highly leveraged trading strategies that can easily wipe out your entire capital. It might be safest to take the bulk of your assets and invest in safe simple stocks. And perhaps with the equivalent of 5-10% of your portfolio practice with the more leveraged/risky trading strategies.

I don't sell/write options. I will only buy them.

Fearing of getting my account wiped is the reason why I am considering options. Events such as SNB crisis could significantly reduce my equity. I am relatively safe when I risk only about 3% of my total equity.

One sort of famous trader is based out of Singapore, and indeed has publicly raved about how wonderful it is:

(PS: I absolutely don't endorse his product in any way shape or form)

I don't know what kind of visa he is on since I'm pretty sure his ITPM shop doesn't employ enough people there to qualify. He might be amenable to a polite email asking for advice. But as a general rule most countries will expect you to pay some tax when you live there; the exceptions being *very* expensive places to live (Monaco etc).

However it sounds like you're jumping the gun since I assume you're still working / studying and trading part time. It might be worth moving your job / education to a friendlier country first (i.e. if you can, get a job in Singapore or somewhere similar now).

In Singapore if trading actively it will not be treated as capital gains but as normal income. You have to pay upto 21% tax.

I stay for years in Thailand as a tourist and make my living by ES trading. No need work permit for that. However, I plan to go to europe this year because of better Internet connection no visa hassles, and better time zone for the US market.

How long did they give you for a tourist visa?

I used to live there for about a year, involving some religious/spiritual course. They gave me 3 months at first, then 1 year when I extended.

There is this thing called ummm ... google and they have this thing called .... google maps.

And using this you will see almost a dozen countries close by Singapore. Stop guessing. They would rather not say for obvious reasons. Duh!

I stay here since more than 8 years. No visa exempts, no Ed visa. Only on tourist visa. Unfortunately now I have to leave the country every 3 months to apply an new visa on a neighbor country. Before I had to leave every 6 months.
