How to go about getting a job as a trader

Quote from tomk96:

there are many different types of trading. some require a lot of capital. not all markets are great all the time. people like to have employees in many markets. the really good markets offset some of the slower ones.
understood.

there are a multitude of reasons why somebody would want to trade for another person and why somebody would want to back others.
This is what I am asking.... what are the reasons? If I can trade for myself what would a firm offer me in which I would consider trading for them.

well, for one, you aren't putting your own capital at risk (which you may not even have). two, you learn to trade. three, you may have access to more capital which allows you to trade and make more even if splitting the profits.

however on the board, the term prop firm seems to be geared more towards places you go to trade on your own that have some connections. i consider prop firms to be larger capitalized firms such as some of the large market making firms or futures shops.
