How to get your Testosterone High?

Quote from shortie:

***UPDATE: newer research (from 2009). not sure if there is more data since then.

''...Coates reported in April that a study of 17 young male traders he conducted found that they tended to make more money on days that their testosterone levels were high, indicating that the hormone encouraged them to take more profitable risks.

The new study was aimed at investigating whether an innate sensitivity to the hormone was also at work, with some men having essentially been born to be traders by having been sensitized to testosterone in the womb. The researchers studied 44 male traders in London involved in "high-frequency" or "noise" trading, which requires intensely scanning economic data to make very fast trades involving large amounts of money.

To determine the traders' prenatal testosterone exposure, the researchers measured their "2D:4D ratio," the relative lengths of the index and ring fingers on the right hand. Those exposed to higher levels of testosterone in the womb tend to have relatively longer ring fingers.

When the researchers looked at the traders' profits over a 20-month period from 2004 to 2007, they found that the most experienced traders who had been exposed to the most testosterone in the womb earned about six times as much as those exposed the least. They also tended to have the longest careers, surviving about three years more on average.

the point is you had to be exposed to higher testosterone PRENATAL in the WOMB...no matter how many times you go back for a brief visit now, it won't make you a better trader :D

Shortie,

I see going on over two years and you’re still pursuing it – tenacious

Here’s a totally different tact – fwiw

Get up early enough to get the brain fully engaged and right… Or iow

Get up
Stretch / exercise a little
Take a shower
Eat

Then play this innocuous little game

Why…

Gets your brain looking for patterns….

Also gets you in the mindset of starting over when you’ve exhausted all/ most of your moves – or extrapolated out

Mindset of easily exiting when you’ve entered a losing position

Btw this game (actually one like it) taught me a very valuable lesson once;

I am a fighter and have a hard time admitting when it’s time to quit – good trait for a person – extremely bad trait for a trader (in a losing position)

Everything is a potential tool to help us make money – if we only use it/ them accordingly….

according to the article i cite it seems that my mom should have done testosterone injections while i was still unborn. need to figure out what the good finger ratio is to see if my trading career was permanently ruined in utero.

Quite a few men -- up to 25 percent -- have testosterone levels that fall below normal in middle age, and in some cases this transition causes a collection of symptoms that has come to be known as "male menopause" (or "manopause").

"Testosterone levels gradually decline with aging, usually around age 40," says Alvin Matsumoto, M.D., a professor of geriatric medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, in Seattle. Although the decline is natural, Matsumoto adds, "that doesn't mean it has no physiological or clinical consequences or shouldn't be treated."

More and more doctors seem to agree. Between 1999 and 2008, the number of prescriptions filled in the U.S. for testosterone gels, shots, and patches-the first-line treatment for most men-increased by more than 400 percent, to 3.3 million.

Testosterone treatments in men of middle age and older are largely unproven, however, and they carry a risk of serious side effects. The sharp increase in their use has led some experts to wonder whether testosterone is being over-prescribed-and whether the so-called male menopause needs to be treated at all.

There is so much talk about testosterone REPLACEMENT therapy, but virtually zero talk about SERM therapy, which actually encourages the body`s own production of testosterone instead of shutting it down due to external injections.

Here`s a study that compares Testim/Androgel and Clomiphene Citrate. The conclustion is that Clomiphene is cheaper, has fewer (none) side-effects and actually gives higher testosterone levels in the test subjects.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19694928

Sure, higher levels may be achieved using injections, but for me it`s just not worth it considering that one is dependent on injections for the rest of one`s adult life.

In my opinion, diet and exercise can take you a LONG way. If you`re still having issues after that is taken care of, one could try SERM therapy. If that fails, TRT is probably worth it.

A few other interesting studies:
