Throughout history that leads to bigger riots and civil wars. A strong response by the Brits and British Troops to the tea party and other colony riots lead to this countries war against Britain.Best just to address the the reason people are rioting.

Actually you need to take a better look at history. Armed force is pretty effective at putting down riots and preventing new riots. Generally riots do not bring about change.

Governments have a much more difficult time at repressing large peaceful protest movements which generally are successful in bringing about change.
