That is actually amusing.

Last night I met another American guy who was living illegally in Colombia, the fourth I've personally met and I don't meet that many gringos. I recon if I have met four with fake passport stamps (on the very very off chance a Colombian cop asks you) there must be shedloads of them. I've been asked once in four years and I just said I don't have my passport on me so he waved me on. Blue eyes are the best currency very often.

Hmmm... And two of them are criminals running separate illegal real-estate business (scamming investors). All of course illegal. Makes you wonder about how many US criminals come to Central and South America. I think maybe a LOT.I'm not whatabouting here, just thinking.

One ranty-thing I can say about Fox is they are trying to create a division in California, and it strikes me as sedition. I skype my land caretaker guy there and he's been telling me Fox has been pushing a group that want to secede the farming counties from the state, creating a two state California.

Expect to see a lot of minuscule groups and protests pumped up by Fox. In your link I galloped through, 'will vote on an ordnance' could be two guys forcing a vote that will be dismissed. But they wrote that the town wants it etc.. it is propaganda and Rupert M should have his ass kicked.

I may very well be wrong but it fits the pattern my guy described very well. This guy started trading *18 months ago and has already made ~500k before tax (not on shitcoins either) so he is no dummy.

Edit: * I should have noted he has years with playing around a couple of stocks for a company he worked for etc. Not too new to the idea of markets which helps.

A very interesting topic, indeed.

One possibility would be for many many countries or all countries on earth to provide a Short Term Working Visa scheme that would possibly a win-win solution for helping at least part of the so-called illegal immigrants.

Rejecting them all might not be the best solution, I guess.

Instead, when the total number of Short Term Working Visa (STWV) around the world is known, Only the selected ones who can prove to have certain skills required by any specific countries would be offered STWV, while the others would be rejected and sent back to their native places in order to prepare themselves better working skills needed by STWV countries.

After earning money with the STWV scheme, the seekers would have to return to their native places and with the money they earned, they should be happily living in their home countries for a good and quality life. They can then provide training for other fellow citizens to acquire required skills in order to get a STWV chance next round. (Since an old STWV worker should not have a second chance to work as STWV worker again, unless shortage of STWV workers - that could be highly unlikely. Partly becuase the scheme should give chance to other people of diverse background and cultures.)

The STWV workers can also create jobs by using their money earned from the STWV scheme overseas.

The STWV countries then can get and enjoy the benefits of enough labour with lower wages that could reduce inflation and labour shortage issues.

Say, people living in countries offering STWV scheme can now enjoy better service at lower cost/price that would be otherwise only available in low-wage countries after flying many hour for a long distance. Instead, the low-cost service, and hopefully of good quality plus smileys (thinking of using the earned wages for enjoying future lives in hone places - perhaps running a same kind of retail shop or factory after learning the additional skills and experience/knowledge due to STWV scheme), is available basically every weekend, locally.

The STWV scheme countries can locate the scheme worker easily because of the traceable record of employer and bank account.

Because the availability of STWV workers accepting lower-wages legally, there would be no need for an employer to employ illegal workers, due to minimum saving of wages while bearing high risk - as any co-worker who is a STWV worker might report to the authority for the benefit of job security purpose.

When many STWV workers working in remote farms or factories, overall locals can enjoy cheaper price for fruits/ produce/ food/ goods. Otherwise, their price would keep going up, especially during shortage of labour.

The STWV scheme governments can also collect ppossibly a little bit of taxes from the employers' profits caused by lower wages.

The STWV workers should be even given school training for basic skills/industry-knowledge required by potential employers.

With this scheme, any potential STWV worker would have to learn useful skills, otherwise (s)he would be definitely rejected due to lack of useful skills - including languages.

These language and job skills for potential STWV workers should be also useful and helpful in their native countries, as well.

Most useful/meaningful at all. They might be required to prove that they have learned enough whatever form of practical philosophy nominated by the STWV countries collectively, in order to signify that the person is not living entirely by their family's traditional holy books.

They should have open mind in learning practical philosophy (such as Stoicism) for preparing a STWV job without causing any psychological or cultural conflicts within individuals for themselves.

Is there any significant impact due to robots for this scheme? Unsure.

A scheme which is workable/feasible with specific requirements such as job skills, languages and a modern-day mindset open to practical philosophy (rather than relying merely on any holy books fundamentally) should be better than no apparent schemes at all, imo.

As much as I dislike the title post being used as an example relevant to America (just dogfood for the site supremacists like KKKinthebeltway) there are things that could benefit.

UK & Rep. of Ireland have long operated something very successful with Australia & New Zealand called the working holiday visa.

If 30 and under you can get a 1 year working visa, one time for Australia and a separate year for New Zealand and vice versa between UK or Ireland for their younger people.

Before Poland joined the EU the joke was 3/10 barmen in London are not Australian. Qualified or unqualified, it gives each side a chance to taste the other's lifestyle. I've done it, I'd say it works really well. You scratch the itch, see & understand more deeply your cousin cultures.
