I see this as a tough call. Clearly, you have the right to use deadly force in this situation, but you have to ask how reasonable it is. As satisfying as it is to see these punks get shot and later arrested, it could easily have had tragic consequences, for example if they had returned fire and hit someone. It was a fairly crowded place and one of his shots could also have hit someone accidentally, for example someone walking by on the sidewalk.
Also, I note that his last shots through the doorway took place as the robbers were fleeing. Arguably they posed no threat at that time. If he had killed them, he mght well be facing charges, and certainly would if Obama, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson got involved. He would also be looking at a civil lawsuit.
On the other hand, the punks could have decided to herd everyone into a back room, rape the women and then kill everyone. As I said, tough call.
