How to be a Guru in 10 easy Steps

LOL. Why do you keep referencing a thread that i sell 10 ES at 931 and end up getting out at 892?

Sure, I sell way more than buy, and that is bad...

and i never try to sell crap, even though that trade likely crushed all gurus trying to peddle crap.

at least pick a loser, not this one..

maybe i'll do a new swing short in the next few days so you can have fun.

When flame war ends and the trolling stops, I hope your post(s) will remain for those who come behind me to read and understand your wisdom.

Would like to look at some sites for money managers (with whether good or bad performance) mainly trading Options.

Any pointers, thanks!?

Mark, have you ever got any early assignments? Yes or No?

I've been awaiting your answers (for this particular question)!

-------------------------------------------------

Yes, I have.

During expiration week. One or two at a time (for maximum commission pain). Always calls, never puts.

This was many years ago, before there were any deep discount brokers.

In recent years have traded only European options.

Mark

Why would you keep telling people repeatedly that early assignment is OK and hedged? And you yourself sell only European options (that cannot have early assignment)!

You understand risk too well and too much, I guess!

And you transfer your knowledge to ALL traders of options for stocks, futures and else, without properly advising them the potentially worst possible risk involved, KNOWINGLY or unknowingly.

I know you didn't ask this, but early assignment is usually beneficial to the covered call writer and unless you desperately do not want to sell the shares, early assignment is your friend. [It allows you to reinvest the proceeds of the sale early - and it's always a good idea to put your money to work ASAP when it's earning income.]

Quote from dagnyt:

Being assigned early is NOT a burden. It is nothing to fear, and in fact is often an advantage. BIG EXCEPTION: cash-settled American style options (OEX). It's not a good idea ever to be short those options.

Many times (but not always), when assigned early, you can either

a) buy back the stock and sell the same call with some remaining time premium or

b) sell the stock and sell the same put with residual time premium

2) What are you trading? If it's a stock, being assigned early is never a problem. You have a position that is never worse than you had before being assigned.

But there is no way in hell – I, you, or anyone can teach someone else how to think – and act like a trader… And with out that – they are absolutely doomed to fail

ok guru pupils, heres our lesson for the day. if no one can teach anyone else how to think, what is the purpose of communication?

if no one is capable of learning from an exchange of information, does it matter the cost? free, paid for or paid to endure. all the same. impossible worthless waste of time. right?

why do any free library books exist? why do any free magazines exist? why do any free websites exist? why do any free blogs exist? why does et exist?

if no way in hell to teach someone else how to think => act like a trader, why not delete all threads in this forum except political religion? its been affirmed that anything else is an impossible waste of time

except for maybe trolling

My opinion is that risk management is the whole ball game. You are free to disagree, but why are you so angry?

Why are you so threatened?
