A pandemic is like a terrorist, it doesn't have to kill a lot to cause huge damage to society. Just look out the window, half of the world is in lock down.
Yes, that is true, but i don't see, how it is relevant to that movie, being compared with events in reality.
The real fear should be that a terrorist group out there is sitting back taking notes and watching how this plays out...getting tips on what to do in the future.

One can bring, ideas like that, to the next level, e.g for few generations, in future, every new born, is being vaccinated or, in future, bio-engineering, some genes implanted, that would protect from a specific bio-weapon, like virus & then, in the times of war, you release it ;
of-course, non enemy countries would suffer as well. But the whole population of the enemy & if not the whole world, would be wiped out, except for your own citizens.
Could a single country sustain/maintain itself, since the world wouldn't be the same.
