how religion hurts science literacy.

Quote from Ricter:

At the very least, time spent on the bible is time away from textbooks (just like TV). So the argument is not "easily refutable". Now, is there time enough in a day for both science and religion study? Depends, what's your competition doing?

I think it also depends on your perspective.

The U.S. had 50 percent of the world GDP when the bible was still being taught in schools. Since the 1950s when the courts started taking the bible out of schools our share of world GDP dropped to 25% and we have become a debtor/consumer/half a family country. Our institutions are now driven by marketing and spin. Walls Street went from long term greedy to blow up the world economic system greedy.

Is there a correlation?

Quote from jem:

the difference is you post the crap and I correct it with posts to real scientists and noble prize winners.

I do not go around trying to annoy others or impose my "false" fact that we got here by random chance. The "fact" we got here by random chance has been dismissed by almost all real scientists for a few decades.

first this:
"I do not go around trying to annoy others or impose my "false" fact"

then this little gem: "The "fact" we got here by random chance has been dismissed by almost all real scientists for a few decades."

like i said. amusing.

nope. i dont even know any out of the closet gays. i think homosexuals have a sad existence but its its their choice and doesnt effect me.

hey hold up a second right there! don't you love science to death? science says it is NOT a choice to be homosexual.

also, what exactly is free about your thinking?

Quote from Free Thinker:
Freethinkers are those who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing to understand things that clash with their own customs, privileges, or beliefs. (Leo Tolstoy)
Free Thinker is very biased to the left and very prejudiced, which makes him a contra-freethinker.
