how much do you get actually lending out short if you own shares?

Holy shit if thats true I'm in the wrong business. LOL. Thats insane to receive that kind of credit just for loaning out a hard to borrow stock.

you know the rate, or any quoted in %, is annualized. if you just want to do a short term bet, it is manageable.
 
Why does the broker get to keep the other half? That's theft.

If you think that is theft, then go and try to loan the shares yourself without a broker.
Do you think they should do the transaction for free?

Thats why I'm curious about the actual mechanics of the transaction,and why I'm hoping Mr Morse will chime in with how his brokerage handles short sale credits.

What makes a stock hard to borrow?
Large short interest

Why would a lot of people short a stock?
Because they believe it will crash.

Who is the bag holder if it crashes?
You.

Doesn't sound like an easy way to make money to me.
