It is just very difficult to make $10M, full stop. If you can do it in trading, you're probably more likely to do it in something else than an average person because the that kind of talent tends to be at least partially transferrable.
Personally I like the idea of getting into venture capital if I had 10s of millions to work with. Even if it doesn't make as much trading, I think it would be more interesting and more useful to society.

Venture capital is really tricky as getting access to good flow is hard.

however, lower middle market private equity is ripe for opportunities. And 10-50 million is perfect for it.

Enough to keep the special woman in your life happy.

And hope that the wife does not find out.

Best answer in this thread. :)

My serious answer would be that I'd like to amass a fortune such that I wouldn't need to be in a position where I'd have to "make a living" from trading, but could be comfortably secured with a relatively low return on my capital from investments alone and not trading activities. Say, 10 % on $2.0 M.

I have a way to go... :)

That said. If I could consistently net $200K from trading activities alone I'd be very happy and leave the workforce in a heartbeat. I've been full-time many times in the past and I believe a big part of my lack of success have been that I've been under-capitalized and have had unrealistic expectations. This leads (for me) to excessive risk-taking, overtrading, too large positions, etc.

Took some profits off the table today. It was a good day. Still have positions on though. Will re-enter new positions as setups trigger.

Wrong thread;
but that'$ the way to a millionaire's profit /$-2-5million. And as a good looking hi school female wrote in my yearbook ''stay witty..........................................................................'':caution::caution:

$10 mill is $40K/day. I'm not saying I hit that (not even close) but once you are reasonably good at trading, it's almost hard to lose money. With the amount of instruments available... Sheesh.

I know my goal is to consistently hit 10K/day on ES. Then I will probably add some uncorrelated FX thing if there is such an uncorrelated FX thing. Then I will hit 20K/day. Then I will add something else. Then I will hit $30K.

So far, so good, not gonna lie.

Edit: Also if I can't find 3-4 uncorrelated things to trade, then maybe I'll just have to be happy with scaling up on 2. The market can support this as far as I can tell.

"i will add some thing and then add something else"

Sounds like a very well thought out plan :D

If you can consistently hit 10K/day on ES - could you not just continue to scale your size with the same strategy in that market?

What are your current figures per day on ES?

Long term average is around $4K. I never considered scaling to 10x the size (current size is 3-6 contracts depending on volatility). ES could probably handle it but then I'd be afraid I'd be noticed. Maybe in a year or so I will try that.
