How many professional day traders ?

[new to trading]

I am trying to get a sense of how many professional day traders there are globally. Can anybody give me a good source of information to research the answer?

Ya know, that got me to thinking. If they got rid of pattern day trading requirements and advertised that fact, probably could get this market flying again. Maybe like the dot com days. We'd have plenty of day traders. wtf, we got $20 maybe $50 dollar lottery tickets being sold everyday, get that money into the market. This economy would be rippin in a year.
