How many does daytraders make in nowadays markets?

Hey....... how did this turn into a "posturing ego" thread...

Scientist is intelligent
Electric is a loser
Longshot is FPC

Scientist isn't intelligent.
Electric isn't a loser.
Longshot isn't only FPC.

In my humble experience with remote traders working their own accounts, serious remote traders working their own account generally consider it a loss if they don't make 1K a day. Plenty have much higher goals. Thats my experience with the guys I know.

Scientist, that geezer post struck me as a homerun, and it seems to have set you off. Just because he said you know "jack". Most real traders probably agree with him. This thread isn't making you look very smart.

Quote from Geezer:

This guy is pulling your leg. He's probably a nice guy who has a little account at Ameritrade and reads lots of posts and trader magazines. I kinda like him but he knows jack.

I think he meant, you know jack shit, as in you don't know anything. I don't think he meant you know jack, the guy jack. Doesn't make sense. I could be wrong though.

But anyway, back to the question I asked earlier before scientist and longshot went at each other, how do you trade without TA? can you really trade just by looking at level 2? If i'm currently profitable and making a living, do you still recommend I drop the indicators?

Quote from Scientist:

Dear stock777,

If you did an elicitation of your beliefs, you might find that this is a terribly limiting belief which could cost you a lot of opportunities. To give you a hint, your beliefs are what forges your reality and the world around you. If you think it's supposed to be hard - It's going to be hard for you - Always!

Unless you realize your own limiting beliefs and mental barriers, collapse them and replace them with power thoughts, you aren't going to achieve superior performance - Ever. It is something we all should do.

I can strongly recommend you get a really good and well-trained NLP master trainer to train you in Neuro Linguistic Programming, preferably with www.inlpta.com they are government-accredited and accepted world-wide. Get some private sessions with the NLP coach to reprogram your brain in a way that will dispose of limiting beliefs and yield maximum output and productivity.

Good Luck,
Scientist.

Scientist, you are such a dork (I may have said this a time or two before). I'm amazed you can even find your way out of bed in the morning.

Trashing your high-toned naivety is losing its attraction and you've harshed my buzz for the last time. You are now permanently on Ignore.

I was just wondering how much does professional daytraders make usually per day - including good and bad days - average i mean.
And also quite interesting dilemma for me is - who makes more, futures trader on equities trader (or forex trader but i don`t think so)? I have heard that some guys made couple of years ago about 10,000% procent per year, they discribed it like a good project. So, how much makes professional daytrader in todays markets per year or per day?

90% of Daytraders are losers!

Most pro traders use two types of strategies simultaneously.
1.) Daytrading to achieve about atleast 1/3rd of the daily bar.
2.) Swingtrading holding about 3days or longer turning into position trades during powerful trends. This is more prevailant in the FOREX were trends are more powerful and last alot longer!

Maniac... Hmmm...
If you could play his trading experiences, step by step, wouldn't you do it?
And in any case isn't it what we all do only on a much smaller scale, so if he is a maniac...?

You misunderstood - I admire maniacs :D

Can't answer all of your question, all I can say is I average over 8 S&P points a day, trading the emini.

If I trade 10 emini contract lots that would be about $80,000 a month. Obviously trading more contracts would be more $$.

I venture to say that I do better than most daytraders, and maybe not as well as others. But am very content to be where I am - above average.

Hope this helps you in deciding what you want to do. Feel free to PM me if I can be further help to you.

Good trading to all

Discretionary trading along with GUT feeling and intuition is KING!

Mechanical Systems trading is for LOSERS!
I could not disagree with you more!

I trade purely mechanically and generate over 300% return every month for the past four plus years.

I'll stack that against "discretionary gut" traders any time!
