Does this virus or any other virus live longer on currency or plastic cards? I don't buy cards are safer. You're sliding the card, typically fingering on some keypad and touching everything in the area. Along comes the next person and does the same thing. Repeat hundreds or thousands of times daily and tens of thousands of location. This method is being sold as safer. It ain't. Might be a better way to do business, and it's damn sure a great way to track personal behavior, preferences and movement. That is the ultimate goal
I try to follow a routine of not touching my face when I am in a store or hitting the ATM or something like that. You may screw up and do it otherwise but that is not the time to do it. Then if I can discipline myself to do that then I can use hand sanitizer or a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol in the car to kill anything that may be on my hands from being in the store. I am sure it helps and I am sure it is not perfect as well. All we can do is improve the odds. I dont do somethings yet because the virus is not in my immediate area so I am sort of "practicing." If it were here and I was making a run to the store, I would hit the car door handle with some sanitizer spray too if you think you deposited anything there after- for example- using the ATM. Could be obsessive. Could be just right. Whatever. Everyone has to work out what's right for them. As I said, I am more in foreplay mode right now and will ramp it up or down depending how things go.
You see people with latex gloves and masks etc but that is a mixed bag. Unless you know what you are doing those just become breeding grounds for the virus unless you are sanitizing them as well at key junctures. I have seen quite a few articles that point out how wearing masks without a disciplined routine makes things much worse because it causes the person to constantly be touching their face as they adjust the mask over and over and over again.
