How good is the ADX indicator?

anyone use the ADX indicator? if you could give me any insight on how accurate is it, I would be much obliged.

agree ADX is useful, I like it better than stochs fwiw.

How do you use ADX?

1. As a filter?
2. As a set-up indicator?
3. As a trigger indicator?

Any changes made to the standard 14 period?

Time frames used?

I use it in conjunction with bollinger bands on my 1 minute chart. Helps me. I use default settings(14,14).

Don't waste your time with the ADX. It is just as worthless as any other indicator. Go with your emotional feel and make it as exciting as possible. When you use indicators you take the sport out of trading.

I tested so many systems a few years ago I stopped counting them. I tried to include ADX in every one of them and I threw it out every time. It's going to depend on your trading style probably because a lot of people swear by it.

Depends on how you use it..

but I don't find it that useful, it lags even more than most indicators.

Indeed, very useful when used 'properly', and that's the keyword. I think it beats CCI (very liked by some and overrated to me) and it is certainly as good if not better than stochastics.
